- Biography
- Beauty Queen Robyn Rihanna Fenty caught the eye of hip hop honcho Jay-Z in 2005. After leaving her native Barbados, Rihanna's debut single, Pon de Replay, was a worldwide hit but it was the 2007 release of her albumGood Girl Gone Bad that made Rihanna an R'n'B superstar. The lead single, Umbrella, was No.1 in over 15 countries, claiming the UK top spot for 10 weeks; the longest of any single of that decade. In '09, her performance at the Grammys was cancelled after her then-boyfriend, fellow R'n'B star Chris Brown, attacked her. Brown was ordered to remain 50 yards away from the singer after pleading guilty to assault. To date, Rihanna has amassed a total of four Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and eighteen Billboard Music Awards. In 2011, she achieved her eleventh number one single with the Calvin Harris-produced track We Found Love, which also earned her the record of becoming the solo artist to have taken the shortest amount of time to amass twenty top-ten singles in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.
