aka Vee, lil Miss Dynamite May 19, 2010
3 years LATER! Vee still remains lil Miss Dynamite. Since her VJ search win in Dar es Salaam Tanzania in 2007 Vee has managed to win the hearts of many. At 19 years of age Vanessa Mdee a college student at The Catholic University Of Eastern Africa walked away victorious by becoming Tanzania’s first ever MTV VJ she would then link up with Carol and Kule to host The Coca Cola Chart Express…Vee admits she was still pretty ‘timid and insecure’ but no one could tell watching her on screen energy you’d think she had been doing it for years.

A year down and Vee had established herself in Tanzania and around the continent  hosting shows in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania and Brazil where she caught the Samba Fever with MTV and Smirnoff at the Carnival. Life in the fast lane caught up with Vee, she remembers finding it hard to leave her Mama in the small town of Arusha to make a permanent move into the beautiful city by the sea,Dar es Salaam.
For the love of music and THE GAME she quickly came to terms.Vee’s interests range from music, to HAIR (she’s had more transformations than Cher) to shoes, which she has confessed to being addicted.
In 2008 Vee, worked with The Staying Alive Foundation on a project close to her heart. She got to visit the Uwanja wa Fisi with the then Staying Alive Foundation Special Ambassador Kelly Rowland. Ever since the Philanthropist in Vee has remained solid, she regularly goes back and takes part in the activities with the Youth Groups who try to make a change and be the change in their societies through skits, music and dance. She also joined Malaria No More in their Z!nduka Campaign, a campaign aimed at the eradication of Malaria.
In early 2009 Vee hosted  Senses, Sounds and Wisdom a show on the Annual Sauti Za Busara International  Music Festival  with Zantel where she got to put her urban cultural funk to the test ,the results a beautiful journey through Swahili Culture Vee- style. It was funky and dynamic and still showcased the ever-growing Swahili culture.
Vee’s great musical ear got her a gig on Tanzanian airwaves she became the host of 102.6 Choice FM’s The Hitlist a brand that Vee has made her own.Vee’s eclectic sounds and love for RnB and Hip Hop with a hint of Pop is Dar es Salaam’s portal to all things COOL!
So what’s Vee doing when she’s not gracing MTV Base’s screen or on Tanzania’s airwaves? Vanessa has finally pursued her musical career (ssssh don’t tell her we told you her album is still in the making , look out for her stuff, PRETTY SOON)
Vee’s energy, passion, wit and style are a perfect combination for the channel.
